Shepherd of the Hills Young People (SHYP)
The teen years mark a key transitional stage in life. Moving from childhood to adulthood is an upheaval! But God uses times of change to bring great growth. That’s where the Senior High staff and volunteers comes alongside parents—helping young men and women know God intimately, read His Word accurately, share and defend their faith, serve others, and develop deep relationships.

Students meet Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30 a.m. During much of the year we split into small groups for deeper study with our peers. This fall, the 9th and 10th graders will be exploring 13 Essential Lessons from the Old Testament, and our 11th and 12th graders will be learning and applying Inductive Bible Study techniques.
Underground: Students meet on Sunday afternoons from 2:30 – 4:30 pm for food, fun, and fellowship. Our mission is to assist students in growing together and in their faith, so that they are strengthened to show Christ to the world during the week. We aim to do at least one service project a month (usually off campus) and will occasionally meet in one another’s homes, so contact Molly if you’re interested in joining us!
We believe in the importance of mentorship and peer counseling, so on the second Sunday of the month during the school year, we host Koinonia, during which high school students mentor 6-8th grade students. Contact Molly if your middle school or high school student is interested in getting involved!
National Youth Gathering:
Held every three years, our students travel to a large city in the United States and join 35,000 other Christian youth praising, learning, and telling others about Jesus. Our next trip is to Minneapolis the summer of 2019. Click HERE to read more details.
Summer Mission Trip:
July 12 – 16th, 2018 we will travel to Navajo in New Mexico and partner with Shepherd of the Valley to lead VBS and sports camps for the Native peoples there. Contact Emily or Pastor Zillinger for more information.
Oversees Mission Trip:
We often send groups to Cambodia to help a Children’s Street Ministry. Contact Jodie Stoltenow, JStoltenow@sothfamily.org, for more information.
